It's a school rule!

We survived our first day of pre-K! I never got a phone call...good sign. My mom and I went to go get Hailey at 3:30 and is was pretty much organized chaos!! Some lady just handed her off to me only because Hailey said 'that's my mom'. I'm sure things will get smoother. I didn't even see her teacher anywhere. I was hoping to see her and either get a thumbs up or smile or something to reassure me that everything went okay :-)

So anyway, Hailey jumped in the car and started chowing down on a snack!! She acted like she was starving :-) I've learned to not ask her too many questions and just let her talk about her day when she wants to so all I said was did you have fun and she just started telling us everything!! She said she went to the bathroom and her teacher helped her go potty. But when they went a second time she didn't want to go with them. She said they played and went outside. They colored and sang and she slept during naptime! But then she said that she wanted to take off her shoes to get comfy but they told her she couldn't because it's a 'school rule'. We started to laugh but she said that it wasn't silly, it really was a school rule!!

So later this evening I get a phone call from Ms. McCallister. First thought is 'oh no' it didn't go as good as it seemed. But she wanted to make sure I understood the bathroom thing... She said Hailey was very persistent that Ms. McCallister go in the stall with her and she told her that she couldn't because it's against the rules because teachers can't see the kids bottoms. So Hailey said 'but you won't because I'll be sitting on the potty!' So then Ms. McCallister said but if I break the rule your Daddy will come arrest me and take me to jail! And Hailey shot back with 'no he won't because I'm not going to tell him!' We were laughing so hard!! She just would not give up! Little stinker :-) I'm going to try something tomorrow that her doctor suggested and we'll see if it works. If not I'm sure she'll have some sort of story lined up to tell Ms. McCallister about why it's okay for her to come in the bathroom with her :-)

All in all it was a good first day!

That's so funny. At least she's creative. :)

She sounds like a smart witted young lady, to be so persistent with the teacher like that! Things will only get better and better.

Glad she had a great first day. It's funny I remember always feeling like I was starving after school too. I can't believe it's really a school rule that they have to keep their shoes on during nap. That's just weird.
